O garoto nascido em Chicago, de apenas 23 anos, Chance the Rapper conseguiu um feito e tanto na cerimonia do Grammy 2017, ocorrido na noite deste domingo (12): levou o prêmio de “Artista Revelação“, prêmio que não era dado a um negro desde 1999, com Lauryn Hill.
Chance foi estreante na premiação e além de revelação, ganhou o prêmio de “Performance de rap” e “Melhor álbum de rap“, desbancando Kanye West com “The Life Of Pablo“, Drake com “Views“, entre outros, consagrados nomes dentro do rap americano.

“Eu gostaria de agradecer a Deus por colocar tantas pessoas incríveis na minha vida, como Pete e Pat, que me acompanham desde 2012. Sei que muitas vezes falo sobre a minha independência, e as pessoas pensam que têm algo a ver com isso… Mas independência tem a ver com liberdade“, palavras ditas por Chance quando subiu no palco para receber o prêmio e fazer seus agradecimentos.
“Coloring Book” ficou no top 10 de todas as listas de melhores álbuns de 2016 não foi atoa, e esse Grammy vem pra coroar um trabalho incrível, de um rapper incrível, que vem colorindo o seu nome dentro do Hip Hop.
Ainda no Hip Hop, Drake levou dois Grammy’s com o hit “Hotline Bling“, nas categorias “Performance Vocal de Rap” e “Música de Rap”.
O Brasil não levou nenhum dos prêmios aos quais concorria. Os brasileiros Caetano Veloso e Gilberto Gil foram indicados na categoria “Álbum de World Music” com “Dois Amigos, Um Século De Música: Multishow Live”. O prêmio ficou com “Sing Me Home”, de Yo-Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble.
Outra indicação para brasileiros foi na categoria Álbum de Jazz Latino, para “30”, do Trio da Paz (Romero Lubambo, Nilson Matta e Duduka da Fonseca). O vencedor foi “Tribute to Irakere: Live in Marciac”, de Chucho Valdés.
No entanto, um dos prêmios teve participação brasileira. A banda Megadeth, que atualmente conta com o guitarrista brasileiro Kiko Loureiro na sua formação, ganhou o prêmio de melhor performance de metal, com “Dystopia”.
